How to Troubleshoot and Fix Audio Recording Problems

Problem: Can’t Record Other People’s Voices

What’s Happening? If you’re trying to record a web meeting using Votars in your browser, you might notice that only your own voice is being captured. This happens because some browsers block external audio sources for security reasons.

How to Fix It

  1. Use two different browsers: Open Votars in one browser (like Chrome) and your web meeting in another (like Firefox or Safari).
  2. Make sure your computer’s speakers are active, then start recording with Votars.
  3. Once the meeting begins, Votars should pick up audio from all participants.

Heads up: This method might not work in all cases. If it doesn’t, try the next solution.

Problem: Recording with Headphones or a Mic

What’s Happening? If you’re wearing headphones or a headset with a microphone during the meeting, Votars might only record your voice. This is because the mic focuses on your input and ignores other sounds.

How to Fix It Skip the headphones! Use your computer’s built-in speakers instead. This way, Votars can capture everyone’s audio during the meeting.

Problem: Your Voice Isn’t Being Recorded

What’s Happening? If you’re using the Votars Chrome Extension to record, it only captures audio from the browser tab—not your own voice.

How to Fix It Switch to the Votars Web App or download the Votars Desktop/Mobile App. These tools can record both the meeting audio and your voice at the same time.
