Unable to Record Other Speakers’ Audio

Scenario 1: Recording Web Meetings in the Same Browser
If you’re using Votars’ [Record Audio] feature to capture a web meeting directly in your browser, you might notice that only your own voice is being recorded. This happens because some browsers restrict audio recording to the active tab or application.

Solution

  1. Open Votars in one browser (e.g., Google Chrome) and your web meeting in a different browser (e.g., Safari or Microsoft Edge).
  2. Set your computer’s speakers as the audio output and start recording with Votars.
  3. Once the meeting begins, Votars should capture audio from all participants.

Note: In some cases, this method may not work due to browser or system limitations. If the issue persists, try the next solution.

Scenario 2: Recording with Earphones or a Headset

If you’re using earphones or a headset with a built-in microphone during the meeting, Votars might only record your own voice. This is because the microphone focuses on your input and ignores other audio sources.

Solution
To record all participants’ audio, avoid using earphones or a headset. Instead, use your computer’s built-in speakers to ensure Votars captures everyone’s voices.

Issue: Your Own Voice Isn’t Being Recorded

Scenario: Using the Votars Chrome Extension
If you’re recording a meeting with the Votars Chrome Extension, it only captures audio from the browser tab—not your own voice.

Solution
For full audio recording, including your own voice, switch to the Votars Web App or download the Votars Desktop/Mobile App. These tools allow you to record both the meeting audio and your voice simultaneously.
