Having Trouble Importing Audio Files to Votars?

If you’re unable to upload your audio files to Votars, don’t worry! Follow these troubleshooting steps before reaching out to our support team.


1. Check Your Operating Environment

Make sure you’re using Votars on a supported browser and operating system:

  • Windows: Google Chrome (latest version) or Microsoft Edge (latest version).
  • MacOS: Google Chrome (latest version), Microsoft Edge (latest version), or Safari (latest version).

Using an outdated browser or unsupported OS might cause upload issues.


2. Do You Have Enough Transcription Minutes?

Check the length of your audio file and ensure you have enough transcription minutes in your Votars account. If your plan has run out, you’ll need to upgrade or purchase additional minutes.


3. Is Your Network Blocking the Upload?

Sometimes, network settings can interfere with file uploads. Here’s what to check:

  • Are you on a stable WiFi or 4G/5G connection? Slow or unstable networks (like 2G/3G) can cause upload failures.
  • If you’re on a workplace or school network, a firewall might be blocking the upload. Contact your network administrator to unblock Votars or try switching to a different network.

4. Is Your File Too Long or Too Large?

Votars supports audio files up to 5 hours in length or 1 GB in size. If your file exceeds these limits, try splitting it into smaller segments before uploading.


5. Is Your File Format Supported?

Votars supports the following audio formats:

  • .wav, .mp3, .m4a, .caf, .aiff

If your file is in a different format, convert it to one of the supported formats before uploading.


6. Is Your File Corrupted?

Play your audio file on your device to confirm it’s not corrupted or damaged. If the file doesn’t play properly, it likely won’t upload to Votars.
